• A team to consist of 4 players from Saffron Walden, within your own village or adjacent villages North, South, East and West of Saffron Walden as per the map.

• A Texas Scramble competition with a maximum of 2 single figure course handicaps per team. Each team will be allowed one guest who holds an England Golf handicap.

• Payment for the event will deducted from members competition purses 24 hours in advance.
• To be eligible to win any prize, a player must have submitted a minimum of six acceptable scores in the preceding 12 months. At least three of these scores must be in a club competition.

Texas Scramble Rules

Teams may be any combination of man/boy/lady/girl.

Handicap allowance is 25%, 20%, 15%, 10% of Course Handicap, from lowest to highest. No more than two single figure handicaps are permitted per team (Course Handicap)

Men/boys play from the white tees, ladies/girls from the red tees.

• All 4 players drive off. One of the tee shots is selected and the other balls are picked up. All players except the player whose tee shot is selected play the second shot from the position of the chosen ball. However, if the selected ball is on the green, then all players may play.
• After the second shot has been played, play continues with all players playing from the position of the chosen ball, until a ball is holed out.
• On closely mown areas (cut to fairway length or shorter) each ball is placed within 12 inches (not nearer the hole) of the selected ball. In any other location the ball is dropped within one club length (not nearer the hole) of the position of the selected ball.
• The ball position must be marked each time.

If 18 holes are played, then the team must select and play at least 4 tee shots from each player. In a team of three, at least 5 tee shots from each player.

If 9 holes are played, then the team must select and play at least 2 tee shots from each player. In a team of three, players select and play 3 tee shots from each player. In a team of three, 3 tee shots from each player.
